Are you trying to live the good life with no much of a garden? Bill Mollison said that the problem is the solution, and in this case, it is definitely true. The property in Laidley was hugely productive. Over 3 tonnes of produce in a year. That with it had the infrastructure to not just support but help create it. We the recent movement from the Laidley site, we have discovered that there is potentially some waste from this infrastructure. Still, as Charlie Mgee says, “there is no such thing as waste, just stuff in the wrong place.”
We have found the half IBC wicking beds an easy and fantastic way for growing veg and herbs in small spaces. Only 1m by 1.2m, 50cm high, they are a great and easy way to produce a lot of food in a small area with little planning. While there are many different styles of worm farms out there, we have found that the old bathtub makes the best with the most stable environment, allowing the worms to express their ‘worminess.’ And the addition of a pond for habitat seriously increased the number of beneficial insects that helped support the system allowing nature to do the work for us.
So, with this excess of infrastructure, we have decided to have a giveaway for 4 of these wicking beds, a bathtub worm farm and a small bathtub pond. And we will come and help you install it!!
